【摘要】:Prismsareusefultoolsforviewingareasotherwiseobstructedorhiddenfromnormalviewing.Forexample,transparencyboltholes,voids,anddelaminationsthatarecoveredbyedgestripsorframescanbeseenthroughaprism.Theprism,onceputagainstthetransparency,withacouplingagenttowetthesurfaces,allowsviewingoftheareabelowwheretheprismisplaced.1.1Aerospacetransparenciesundergohighstressesinducedbyflight,environmental,orotherfactors.Thetransparencyattachmentpointsareespeciallysubjecttofatigue.Theseareasoffatigueareoftenobstructedorhiddenfromnormalinspection.Aninspector,followingthetechniquesdescribedinthispractice,shalluseaprismtoviewdamagelocatedneartransparencyboltholes,voids,anddelaminationthatarehiddenbyedgestripsorframes.1.2Thepurposeofthispracticeistoprovideacceptablemethodsforperformingprisminspectionsoftransparentmaterialswithspecificemphasisonaircraftwindscreensandcanopies.Caveatsandlessonslearnedfromexperienceareincludedtoassistauthorsinwritingtailoredinspectioninstructionsforspecificapplications.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
